Week 4-5

Under my eating plan, weeks 4 and 5 are grouped together.  Up until now, I’ve followed the plan and i haven’t been sick with no real reactions at all.  I’ve pushed the envelope slightly here and there just to see how my stomach would react, again zero issues.

I did run into one minor issue a few times and learned something.  A couple of times, I ate too quickly.  There is nothing worse than having food get stuck in your pouch.  It feels like death, honestly.  My chest hurt (painfully), sometime I got the shakes, I would start sweating and had the dry heaves to boot.  Simply put, it’s not something anyone should have to go through.  A single piece of advice, chew and chew slowly.  We all get sick of hearing and reading it, but it can’t be more true.

So back to weeks 4-5, I ended up merging weeks 4-6.  I’m eating almost everything with a  few exceptions.  I’ve basically cut milk out of my diet (with the exception of some cheeses), I’ve switched to Lactaid fat-free and sopped using cream in my coffee/tea.  Broccoli, no matter how well it’s cooked seems to bother my pouch, so out it goes for now.

Things I’ve eaten this week: hamburgers, steak, boneless pork chops, baked chicken, baked chicken tenders, fish, protein shakes, pudding, and Protein ice cream (what a godsend).  The pork chops was the toughest, literally and figuratively, extra slow and extra chewing required.  I’ve hit my protein count every day and stayed under the 800 calorie limit imposed by my NUT.  That last piece is amazing to me, I’m never hungry but I’ve put myself on an eating schedule because without it I would never want to eat.  64 ounces of water is the toughest thing, can’t have water 30 minutes before or an hour after.  It makes it tough, I’ve got to keep the schedule in my head (and that’s never easy lol).

I have also found that I need a mint or something after I eat, I can’t handle the meal aftertaste, makes me a bit nauseous.  thank goodness sugar-free mints don’t bother me.  Shh, don’t tell, I even ate a piece of sugar free chocolate (in one word: amazing).

All in all, a good week last couple of weeks. Had NUT appointment this week, and weighed in.  Down a total of 60 pounds, 22 down since surgery.  No matter how much I loose, it’s all good to me.  I realize now that I’ve set myself up for the long haul and that only makes things easier and whatever I loose is whatever I loose, i’m happy with that.
